Hey everyone,
It’s been almost 4 months since we opened our doors for business on March 1. It’s been a great honey-moon period. We’ve had some great in-store shows–Dead Gaze, Water Liars, Jon Langford, Dent May, Jack Oblivian–and we will host Jimbo Mathis on July 20th for the release of his excellent “Blue Light” EP. We had an excellent Record Store Day in April, and we were pumped to see the Third Man Records Rolling Record Store come by for an afternoon in May as well. We also started a new zine (stay tuned for the next issue). It’s been a whirlwind and we’re having a blast.
We just wanted to say thanks to everyone for supporting us so far. It’s great to see people browsing and buying!
Since opening, some great records have come out, and more are on the way this summer. Here are our top 10 best sellers since March 1st:
1. Alabama Shakes “Boys and Girls” (ATO)
2. The Black Keys “El Camino” (Nonesuch)
3. Dent May “Do Things” (Paw Tracks)
4. Spiritualized “Sweet heart, sweet light” (Fat Possum)
5. The True Story of Abner Jay (Mississippi Records)
6. The Walkmen “Heaven” (Fat Possum)
7. Ranie Burnette’s Hill Country Blues (Big Legal Mess)
8. Dead Gaze “Big World” 10″ (Group Tightener)
9. Beach House “Bloom” (Sub Pop)
10. Junior Kimbrough “You Better Run: The Essential” (Fat Possum)
These records just missed the top ten: Gentlemen Jesse “Leaving Atlanta,” The Black Keys “Brothers,” Paul Simon “Graceland” (reissue), FLIGHT “Turns to Blood,” and Yuck’s Deluxe s/t album
Thanks again…and stay tuned!
